Does something like this feat exist?

@Berk: is this in S&S I or II? And does it require a feat or is it a "use with any item/weapon" system?

Let me look it up real quick. =o) It's in S&S I and it is in use for any item. They call them Personal Growth Items. Of course reading it now it says that the creator needs to have the appropriate feats to create the base item first which is magical in nature. Still a decent method and system, if you are interested go and pick up the book if ya can after scanning through it. It also has some decent spells and alchemical items and such, including a pretty big section on spellbooks.

If I'm not mistaken, one of the fairly recent issues of dragon magazine has rules for leveling weapons that seem to work pretty well (if you like that sort of thing).

I think it's issue 296, but I may be wrong.

I have 296, and don't see that in there anywhere. Do you have any recolection of the pictures associated with the article, or the magazine cover? I have a photographic memory, and that is how I associate things that I want to remember in books. It helps out a lot when dealing with things like this.

Hmm. Unfortunately, no... we're using it in my current online campaign, but I'm a player, not a DM.

Since my DM knows that I have a tendency to read every rule that applies to our game, he hasn't told me which issue the rules are in. It's in the 290's though.
