Does this look alright?

What full armed combatant actully carries a dagger or something similar when they have their longsword of SLAY ALL?

Actually when a Paladin in our group got grappled and with a puzzled look said he had no light weapons EVERYONE in the group said "ALWAYS TAKE A DAGGER !"

Its also a good last desperate resource "missile" weapon. I've killed a hag with my trusty belt dagger just as she was about to make an escape with invisibility. Getting a critical helped of course... but it was a great scene. That dagger just flailing around as the invisible wench died was great ! I named it "Witchbane."

So yes... its standard procedure to have backup weapons...

As a side to this guy's comment: Imp. Trip allows you to trip with a +4 bonus, AND you get a free attack on him @ whatever attack bonus you tripped him on, plus he's prone so afterwards you would get a +4 to Atk Rolls because he's prone, then he needs to get up next round....

I fully agree that Improved Trip is a wonderful feat, but I simply cannot meet the prerequisites. My character's int is far too low, at 7. Thus I cannot get Combat Expertise, and thus I cannot get Improved Trip (or Improved Feint, or Improved Disarm, or Improved Whirlwind Attack).

Tome of Battle is not allowed by my DM (fair enough, since the campaign started before he had a chance to even look at it).
While that is fair, the Superior Unarmed Strike feat doesn't hook into the new mechanics/flavor in the book... so if it was something you're actually interested in it's worth having him take a look at it.

If not, you could still use armor spikes with a reach weapon. (Or take short haft from PHB2).

Armor spikes are a possibility, but Short Haft is not (no PHB 2 feats).

But I am not sure on the rules about putting armor spikes on "found" +2 full platemail, for example.

There shouldn't be any problem. The rules just state that spikes can be added to a suit of armor, so they don't have to be built in at creation time. And they're treated as an entirely separate magic item for enhancing. But I guess it's best to clear it with the DM first.

What about Shorten Grip? It's similar but doesn't come from PHB 2.
