Does your DM use dry erase boards? Don't they make you sick?

Being sensitive to strong chemical smells myself I have found the "low-odor" ones to be somewhat better. I believe the Expo line has them.

Yeah, I saw that when I went looking for some cites on this matter. Unfortunately, there's nothing there that's peer-reviewed or that draws a convincing link between normal use of dry-erase markers and any sort of health problems. I don't consider that to be a convincing cite--sorry!

Daniel

I agree. I just figured if a person was already convinced it was harmful, at least that link offers some options for low-odor ones and ones that do not contain the things that the original poster assumes are harmful.

Personally, I detest dry erase boards with the traditional markers. They give me a headache and toluene gives you brain damage.

Thoughts?

P.s. Do they make dry-erase markers that won't kill you?

I find the odor a bit overpowering, and I have gotten headaches from using them before, but never while gaming. As long as the ventilation is good and you keep the caps on, I don't see a problem.

Toluene gives you brain damage as a result of oxygen deprivation, not as a result of exposure. That is, it is a huffing substance.

We use the Expo markers at work - they give off little to no odor - even th regular ones, much less the low odor ones.

Is there ANYTHING you find not overpowering?

Just teasing....

For what it is worth, if you Google the phrase "5 star drywipe marker" you will find many sources for dry erase markers that do not contain the substance that folks are worried about.

Every time I snort dry erase markers, I think Eberron is dead. :D

I use them at work, not at home, but the smell doesn't bother me. They never stay uncapped for long.
