What about seperating to see if elves use sword or bow more?

Currently a half-elf with a short bow, but she has a whip too :) yes, that fairly useless weapon, but fun to pull out when nothing else is at hand.

I'd have to say also that for me at least the bow part of her is more cause I like ranged attackers and less that she is part elf.

Uriel "Stirling" Sevtéline, aka The Magister, Neodolmanic Apostle uses neither sword nor bow. He's incredibly unlucky with his rapier (75% of my d20 rolls with the rapier are <10, about 25% are 1's) and his friends flee when he takes it out. He doesn't use his crossbow much (wands will usually do more damage) but certainly doesn't use a bow (because he has a STR penalty).

Yes. My most recent elf character was a fighter/barbarian using a greatsword modeled loosely after the berserker character from Record of Lodoss War.

Yes. My most recent elf character was a scout/bounty-hunter type and an archer. Primarily used a bow and on very rare occasions a shortsword or longsword.

This poll is similar to the "Does your dwarf warrior use an axe?" poll. It seems that in fantasy, elves are always using either a sword or a bow (or crossbows, in the case of D&D drow). So, this thread was created to see just how true that stereotype is.

This one is a little tougher to answer. Sure, my elf used a sword but that was because magic sword are easier to come acoss and it was the best weapon he had. His choice of weapon though was a dagger, but he did use a bow and a sword because we found magical ones.

The game I DM has two half-elves:

Half-Elf Rogue 3/ Ranger 4/ OotBI 1 - uses short comp bow & elven thinblade
Half-Elf Sorcerer 6 - uses elven thinblade and Spells
