I'm not talking about brief reminders about events in the campaign like a "last time in the world of..." email. Does your group send out reminders about when and where you're meeting in advance so people remember to set their plans accordingly? I'm also curious if you feel the need to remind people or if it is merely a courtesy, will people forget to show up to a session if the DM (or some other designated member) doesn't send them a personal reminder to come?

i call my players on the phone to remind them every week but it doesn't help.
some losers don't even have the modesty to call me and say they don't want to play this week.

My group can be pretty disorganized - but not on the player side. One of our DMs pretty much _refuses_ to plan his own games. If he says "I want to run a game tomorrow at 2" you better call him at 1, _ask_ him to run it, and then offer to call everyone, 'cus he won't. I think he feels he's so good people should approach him like simpletons to a prophet.

We play at my home at a set time every week, so it isn't necessary. One of my players calls me a day or two in advance, just to make sure I know the game's still on.

We send them and from time to time it saves one of us from missing the date :) But most of the time its just a good excuse to use the reminder email to start a mail flood for the rest of the afternoon :D

Myself and AslanDM both run games. We each play in eachothers games. One other player is in both of our games.

After that, I have two players that aren't in his game, he has two that aren't in my game.

Normally we alternate games every other week, but sometimes scheduling issues come up which mean we have to run one game two weeks in a row. Well if this issue comes up in my game, then his two other players need to be informed that their schedule is being affected.

Also, often our start time moves forward or backward by an hour in either direction based on people having other commitments which mean they will be late or whatever. All in all, it just seems to make the most sense to send out reminders.

I run my game every other week at my home, and another DM runs his game on my off week, also at my home. I take notes on my game and a few days before the next session I email everyone with what happened. I don't tell them every thing I have in my notes of course :), just what was publically known.

Not on the list, but we have one guy who puts up a website of all the games and any changes to the games. Also has who's in each game as well as the DM who's running it. And if a game's cancelled, the reason why (holidays, conventions...).
