I'm currently shopping for web hosts and getting ready to set up a few different sites (online resume, a couple of game related pages, etc). I'm also wanting to register some domain names to point to the different sites. My question- am I better off letting the host register the names for me, or doing it myself?
I've heard some stories of people having problems with host-registered domains, the host lets the domain get lost to squatters, that sort of thing. But the same thing could easily happen if I'm managing it, as I easily forget about official dates like tax day, renewing my driver's license (btw, re-taking the test at age 30 sucks, just so you know
), you get the idea. And I wouldn't even know where to go to register the names, since there's tons of companies out there. And if I'm going through a company to register the name anyhow, wouldn't it make sense to use the same company for both things at once?
Advice, please!
