Domain Spells

If a cleric has a spell as a domain spell, but not on his spell list. Can he take that multilple times.

Say he is first level and has 3+1 spells of 1st level. And has access to the Spell domain. The spell domain grants the "Mage Armor" spell as its first level domain spell.

That is clearly not on the clerics spell list. Can said cleric memorize 3+1 or a total of 4 "Mage Armor" spells.

Oh and also can domain spells be converted to healing spells.

Thanks

Domain spells can only be placed in the domain spell slot, that's the +1 in their spells per day.

IIRC, domain spells cannot be turnbed into healing spells, but I'm not 100% sure on that answer.

I'm pretty sure the answer to your first question is, yes. When your cleric gains a domain, he gains access to the spells associated with the domain, effectively adding them to your current list.

The 3+1 means you have 4 spell selections, at least one of them being a domain provided spell.

However, the second question is a no. Spontaneous casting of cure or inflict spells cannot replace a domain's spell slot.

Unfortunately no to both.

Keep you domain spellcasting completely separate with the basic cleric spellcasting. Don't prepare as domain spell a normal cleric spell or vicecersa, and don't spontaneously convert domain spells.

The only thing you can share between the two is any metamagic feat you have taken, just as a multiclass e.g. Wiz/Cle with Extend Spell can apply it to every spell he casts.

Can I cast an extended Mage Armour as a 2nd level spell domain spell?

I believe you are completely free to apply any metamagic feat to your domain spells: just prepare it as a higer-level domain spell.

Just in case, you can also prepare a lower-level domain spell in a higher-level domain slot if you wish, just as you do with your normal spells.

edit: if you ever wanted, you could fill all your level 1-9 domain slots with Mage Armor, eventually multi-extended (when you can cast 9th level spells, of course)

Are you sure about this? I have an NPC Cleric with the Pain domain (From Book of Vile Darkness) and the Enlarge Spell feat. I want to be able to metamagic some of these domain spells. I was looking through the core books yesterday and couldn't find any ruling (one way or the other) on metamagicking domain spells. Anyone?

I think it's in the FAQ, the PH dosn't cover this one way or the other.
