It was pretty good. I've never read the books, but my g/f has practically memorized them.

The worst part of it was the commercials for the Tremors show. How can they not pick up Firefly, and then go and pick up such a piece of shee-niou as Tremors?! Those bastards.

Children of Dune comprised the events of Dune Messiah and Children of Dune.

Before the 9pm showing of Children of Dune, they showed the original miniseries of Dune from 3pm to 9pm.

Next sunday the 23rd, they will be showing Children of dune in it's entirety.

I taped Dune and the first part of children last night and intend to tape the next two parts of children of dune tonight and tomorrow night.


All in all it is still a pretty good series.

As for Alia practicing in the nude, they changed it a little. They didn't actually remove the scene, though it showed her practicing with clothes on first, and then when she was done she removed her clothes just as Paul, and the ghola appeared. paul pulled a robe or towel around her for her to cover herself up. and gave them a mission to check out a dead body.

Saw it last night...

...and was duly impressed. For the record, I much prefer the David Lynch film to the Sci-Fi channel miniseries.

Children {part 1} was beautiful to look at, full of the kind of imagery I watch SF for {as opposed to read}. And it nicely evoked the dense atmosphere of intrigue that filled the books {and I say evoked rather than dramtized since I still felt this one was a little slack, drama-wise}.

Here's my question: how will they end it? The future-ghost of Leto II mentions his Golden Path. Which doesn't get resolved for 4000 years or so, at the end of God Emperor. Will they put off the grand climax, hope for the ratings, and film God Emperor?

Now I must wait for Hollywood to finish making the Ringworld movie. Such a great decade so far for fantasy and Sci-Fi, wouldn't you agree?

Their making a ringworld movie? when did this happen and why did no one inform me?

I hope they film God Emperor and then do Heretics. And then Chapterhouse would be great!

Anyway, if you want to see Alia practice in the nude, maybe it will be in the Directors cut?

I was impressed to say the least... definately a cut above the first Dune miniseries. In fact, I'd say that this is, so far, the best made-for-TV movie or mini-series that I've ever seen. It just looks so good!

And yes, I hope now that they'll film the rest of the Dune saga... even if I never get around to reading them...
