Doubt about Familiars and mounts

RUMBLETiGER

Adventurer
The Tibbit Race from Dragon Magazine Compendium is a creature that is like a halfling, with the special racial ability to turn into a housecat of Tiny size at will.

If you were this race, Small creatures would be rideable.

Just a suggestion.

How about the following: play a Halfling with a Raven familiar. Cast Enlarge Person on yourself, and share it with your Raven. The Raven is now small size. Now, dismiss or dispel Enlarge Person on yourself only, then cast Reduce Person on yourself. You are now tiny, and can ride your small-sized Raven familiar. Great image, and a nice buff for AC and attacks (ray spells).
That is a good idea, but it comes with a new question: share spells works automatically? If yes, Reduce Person would affect my familiar as well, canceling the Enlarge Person spell.
About the mongoose idea, I dont have access to this series of books. And the tibbit race would be very fun, but at least weird: a cat riding a super raven (small size) hahahahahahaha! I don't know if the DM would allow it either and there is no way to use a lance like that...

No, Share Spells isn't automatic. You can choose whether a spell you cast on yourself will affect your familiar as well, at the time of casting.

Share Spells doesn't give the familiar its own copy of the spell, the familiar is just affected by the spell on the caster.

Share Spells
At the master’s option, he may have any spell (but not any spell-like ability) he casts on himself also affect his familiar. The familiar must be within 5 feet at the time of casting to receive the benefit.

If the spell or effect has a duration other than instantaneous, it stops affecting the familiar if it moves farther than 5 feet away and will not affect the familiar again even if it returns to the master before the duration expires. Additionally, the master may cast a spell with a target of "You" on his familiar (as a touch range spell) instead of on himself.

So what's the range on that spell which is normally casts on oneself but now becomes a "touch range spell" when casting on the familiar?

When casting, it is a touch range spell. After casting, it won't matter since that is separated from the rest of Share Spells because of the "Additionally...". That part of the ability won't help Enlarge Person a familiar because that part of the ability only works on Personal Spells that have "Target:You".

You miss understand...or maybe I do. The wording of "touch ranged spell" suggests that the Wizard doesn't need to actually touch the familiar, but can cast the spell from a distance. If so, what exactly is the range of the spell? You dig?
