[DP9] Tribe 8 Player's Handbook

Marc A. Vezina

First Post
I just updated the book's Web page with the (rather delicious) cover image. Check it out for yourself:

Of particular interest to D20 players:

1) A new fantasy setting to play in (with no elves or dwarves or other Tolkienesque items);
2) New nasties (the Z'bri and their ilks);
3) A spell-less, freeform magic system (Synthesis).

Well, it'll be interesting to see. I haven't picked up any Tribe 8 stuff in a long time and this sounds like a bit of a confused product so I'll wait to hold judgement until I have it in my hands and can see how d20 it is.

I mean I like Silver Age Sentinels but still feel it should've went OGL and I don't play it as part of d20. The only way I'd be interested in doing Tribe 8 myself is as a d20 plug and play product.

Just my two cents.

Looking forward to the book.

Wow... that's awesome. I've been interested in T8 for a long time. Does this mean that future stuff is going to be dual statted? Or will there just be a conversion chapter that will leave the rest of the books alone?

I presume the unspoken bit here is "...but since it's not D20, I haven't picked it up"? :)

This is exactly why we have included an OGL "gateway" section.

Maybe -- it depends on the sales of this book. Though from what we're seeing right now in pre-orders (3x the usual orders, on average), it might be wise to do so. :D

Or will there just be a conversion chapter that will leave the rest of the books alone?

That might be a way to do it, yes. It would certainly make separating the Open stuff easier, though not all players may like flicking pages back and forth...
