My players and I had a discussion about this last session and I wanted your opinion.

Let's say a creature has DR 10/Silver and Magic. Does this imply that to overcome DR, a weapon must be both silver and magic or judy one of the two?

Does a silver dagger overcome DR?
Does an +1 iron dagger overcome DR?
Or does it take a +1 silver dagger to overcome DR?

Thanks.

if it says "and" its both. if it says "or", it means eather.

so in your case they would need a +1 silver weapon.

look under demons. the stronger demons have "and", while the weaker deams have "or"

DR 10/Silver and Magic requires both criteria to be met to bypass it. You would need a +1 Silver Dagger.

If it were DR 10/Silver OR Magic, only one condition would need to be met. A silver dagger would do it, a +1 dagger would do it, and a +1 silver dagger would do it. All equally well.

Make sense?

Here's a quote from the SRD:
A few creatures are harmed by more than one kind of weapon. A weapon of either type overcomes this damage reduction.

A few other creatures require combinations of different types of attacks to overcome their damage reduction. A weapon must be both types to overcome this damage reduction. A weapon that is only one type is still subject to damage reduction.

Note also that it is possible to have different, separate types of DR, in which case only the best applies. You only need to pay close attention to this when someone has Sense Weakness. (This situation frequently occurs due to template addition, spells, and the like.)
