Dragon #305 Am I just getting old?

Is it just me?

I got my Dragon #305 yesterday in the mail and I could really do without the female monster broad nipplage on the back cover.

Lets try for some classier advertisements on the back page and put items like that somewhere inside the magazine.

BYW - I read the little Gary Gygax essay in every article and I swear that Gary and his buddies gamed purely to screw with each other absolutely as much as possible.

well, insofar as 'old' and 'mature' are somewhat synonymous....

;)

Sadly, the mags will probably continue to appeal largely to the immature audience. Simple business, once you're old enough to realize how annoying that stuff is, they either already have you or won't ever get you...

Kahuna Burger (feeling like an old fart sometimes too)

Well they certainly don't have me. I will never buy Confrontation Minis, just like I will never purchase an Avalanche product.

I can relate. Buying issue 302, I suddenly felt rediculous.

"ULTIMATE POWER!!!! Unlock Arcane Secrets!"

I thought, "how much longer will I buy this junk?"

Have I aged, or has the game become less mature?

Both, I suppose?

I guess I'm one of those "already have you"s. I've been reading the magazine for about a hundred issues now, and I don't intend to stop anytime soon.

The covers never particularly affected me, one way or the other. When I saw a picture I liked, I would admire it on the text-less reproduction of the art on an interior page. When the cover was something I didn't like, it was easy to ignore it. Ditto for cover blurbs that I don't care for. For me, I judge an issue based on how useful I find the enclosed articles, how funny the comics are, etc. I usually couldn't tell you for the life of me what was on the cover of issue # ??? (unless it was a landmark issue), but I could tell you how useful the enclosed articles were, and that's been good enough for most of my fellow gamers.

Hmm... I don't think I'm among the ranks of the "old" yet (as a college senior) so my words probably hold much less weight in this debate. But when I see those sensationalist headlines, I just smile, laugh, and know that the content of the magazine will be so much better than the headlines.

LOL! I was going through this very thing buying some new products at the zine shop...I totaly agree. If you looked at most artists over 35 you'll see alot less niplage for the most part...not all...but most :)

FYI - Dragon #3, page 7: Notes on Women and Magic.

... believe me, we've gotten classier over the years.

"I read the articles...really"

I fall into that old enough to know better, young enough not to care and that's how I feel about it. Compared to other magazines out there, Dragon is extremely tasteful. If you have problems with this, you do not want to look through an issue of anything published by Wizard Entertainment.
