Dragon 315: "The Suits"

I don't recall doing that, but do I remember it being said by someone.
My mistake. I turned to the magic of Google, and found that it was Robert Baldwin who did that. The reason I got Sean mixed up is that he posted and corrected Baldwin as to what the actual song from the Wizard of Oz book was.

There are a lot of really good artists coming out of the woodwork now. Especially in the draconomicon. Sam Wood, Todd Lockwood, Rebecca Guay, Jeremy Jarvis, Stephan Tappin, and Lars Grant-West among many are really good artists, and at least as good as the old dnd art. Personally i think the people bringing down D&D art theses days are Dennis Crapapple-Mcpain and whoever did the Paladin in the PHB. I almost feel sorry for Crabapple in the Draconomicon, page 132-3, having his Initiate of the Draconic mysteries juxtaposed with Tappin's badass platinumn knight. That and WAR needs to add depth to his pictures more. And to never draw faces. But otherwise he is cool.

Which artist was it that illustrated most of the PrC's in the Book of Exalted Deeds? Truly awful, awful stuff.

From what I've read, she basically had no respect for gamers (her customer base) whatsoever, she had a reputation for looking down her nose at gamers. My guess is that she was pretty much why people started referring to TSR as T$R, for several reasons. First, the way I understand, she saw gamers as morons that would buy just about any old crap the company would produce.

Could be some truth to that...Mongoose is still going strong after twenty-some-odd uninspired "Quintessential Foo" books after all. Will that well every dry up? :)

Secondly, she didn't seem to have any creativity or imagination whatsoever, TSR's business plan in her days were basically to come up with a product that would sell and be as popular as Dragonlance, hence the reason 2e sprouted like a half a dozen different campaign settings. And there was also the early days of the Internet, back when people started sharing D&D related material on the net, TSR started cracking down on them and threating them with lawsuits. I guess that's what started the spread of terms like T$R and "They Sue Regularly". So it's little wonder that long time D&D players have very little love for Lorraine.

I know an acquaintance who used to work at TSR. Claims he hung on to his job through dark times mainly by getting into his boss-lady's regular pinochle games.

Didn't they just release a Quintessential Fighter II or something?
