Thank You! Hope you find the money.

So do I! (I will, I just get paid monthly and I've been spending a lot of money on my car. :()

Cheers!

It's not my intention to bring politics into this, no. In fact the reason I find it distasteful is that the phrase is so clearly political at this time. I know that I personally will have a hard time reading the spell when I get the magazine and not seeing some sort of political affirmation in it, and I'd rather something like that not be in the magazine at all. Is it really so difficult not to name a spell "shock and awe" to avoid the political connotation?

And I'm sure you'll not be able to look in Castles and Crusades because it is also a politically charged term today without having the same problem? ;)

I mean, you gotta lighten up. You don't even know what the spell does. I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with DefSec Rumsfeld or Gen. Franks.

There's a difference between things that happened hundreds of years ago and things that are hot issues right now. Not too long ago Dragon took a political stance asking readers to write in to their senators protesting the unethical treatment of prisoners on the grounds that they couldn't play D&D. There was a big outcry from the readers, the editor apologized and admitted that Dragon is an inappropriate forum for things of a political nature.

"Shock and awe" is a specific term coined recently. Everyone thinks of one thing when they see it, unless they've been living in a cave for the last four years. The only purpose of using the term is to evoke a patriotic response, negative or positive. I don't believe this is appropriate for Dragon and it puts a bad taste in my mouth to see something like that in the magazine.

That's like naming a spell "Ask not what your country can do for you" and denying it was inspired by Kennedy, isn't it?

Anyway, my outrage is mild. It just seems distasteful to me, that's all.

Interesting to note that they're going to do another "Ecology of the Rakshasa" in the next issue. That monster's already had an "Ecology" article written many years ago. I wonder if this is an oversight or if all of the D&D monsters are now up for grabs again?

Does seem silly at first. I would wager the article is instead an Ecology of the "Eberron" Raksasha. The Eberron raksasha is a whole other beast that the normal core creature.

If that is the case, I don't have any complaint. It may be a cool idea for re-visioning many creatures...

And once again, the subscriber doesn't get his copy before the store. Yeah, I'm going to have to really think about the time vs. money part here as my sub's getting ready to expire.

Yeah, I'm gonna let my Dragon sub drop as well. With the low quality (from my perspective, YMMV), I'd save money just buying the one or two I like/want when they hit the newstand. Can't stand having to wait three weeks or more for my sub to come, when it is sitting right there on the rack. Guess I'm one of those immediate gratification type guys.
