Agreed, this issue was a major let down. Three bad fiction pieces, and a "buyer's guide" that was absurdly classified as a feature? I wouldnt normally put "twice the ads as normal!" on the cover of future issues. Hopefully next issue gets backt o the normally high standards for Dragon.

I also agree. The buyers guide actualy annoys the living daylights out of me. I know Paizo needs the add revenue but don't play us for fools and list it as a feature. I've resigned myself to accept it as a necessary evil the same way NPR has their monthly pledge drives.

Agreed. This issue was a MAJOR disappointment, all the more so because Paizo set out to do something "special" for the anniversary. Special? To each their own but little in this Dragon issue did anything to enhance my game or even hold out the possibility of doing so. When Class Acts are the best part of Dragon you _know_ you are in trouble. IMHO, only a editorial "tin ear" would percieve the included material as something to brag on.

Eh I can live with this anniversary issue. It's not like I get every time for the crunch. Some times the Fluff is just as fun.

I think that's a drastic exaggeration. It's got several authors well remembered writing for the magazine again, as well as material by one of the RPG world's rapidly risen stars (that is to say, Keith Baker). Sure, the fiction is the big selling point of the issue, and that might not be your thing. But I wouldn't call it a huge misstep.

Nah a huge mis-step would be allowing Robert Jordan, Terry Goodkind, or even Philip Pullman to write something about their respective stuff. We all know unless it's been around for at least 10 years, it's not that good. (No, not even WoT. )

Still haven't gotten it yet. My magazine deliveries have been very fluckey; I've missed several issues (one quickly replaced by the kind team at Paizo, the others I still need to call about), and others have arrived in clumps (like I got the April and May issues of DRAGON one day after the other).

Maybe my mailman's a gamer too. I'll have to buy him his own subscription...

I don't know, the George R. R. Martin issues of Dragon were major sellers in my area. The Song of Fire & Ice series hasn't been out quite 10 years (and was further off when it was published).

Looking at the first 2 years of The Dragon and I see a huge amount of fiction by classic writers. We had Fritz Leiber, L. Sprauge De Camp & Fletcher Pratt, Gardner F. Fox, Andre Norton and others. I think if we had fiction of that caliber, and it didn't overwhelm an issue, it would be a different story.
