Dragon 370 - Roll vs. Role: The Longest Night

To show people how awesome we are. I dunno, it's just a nice reminder for those of us with subscriptions and it's a place we can discuss the articles.

What is the point of posting something that you need a subscription for and is also on the News page?

Too be fair, the first 3 artlicles in this series are free. And also we like discussing them.

On topic, I think I could be stealing The Longest Night for my upcomming campaign, should be good fun. As I noted before it should make for a memorable dragon encounter.

I actually very rarely visit the newspage. Especially if I know some fellow poster will post a news that might be discussion worthy.

But I'd prefer the initial post to contain some "discussion" material - thoughts, impressions, whatever. (But it's likely that if you spend so much time posting your thread, someone else already started his - without the discussion material. :) )

To add to the comments of others.. I am a subscriber, and I like discussing (or lurking in the discussion) with other EnWorld members. If I was the only subscriber, I could see your point, but there are more than enough EnWorlders subscribing to justify havng a thread on the subject.

Its just better discussion than over at the WOTC board sometimes.

Besides, they're clearly marked and it hurts no one.

All the more reason for ENWorld to create a filter which, when enabled, removes all threads with tags such as "DDI" or "requires subscription".

ENWorld isn't Wizard's home boards. Let Wizards handle their own DDI promotion.

You do know you don't have to click on such threads, right?.

I'm not a subscriber and I still like to read the discussions about the articles to get a better feeling what they're about and what people think about them.

I also don't visit the News page, my shortcuts directly link to the forums...

So it's okay to use ENworld to talk about books that you have to pay to get, but not articles that .. wait for it... wait for it... have to pay to get?

Seriously. What?

BACK to the original topic:

It seems really nice, and sets up a great Heroic-level-capping scenario. Plus it develops a lot of the Nentir Vale.

[sblock] The entire Barony of Harkenwold, a collection of small villages, pays tribute to a red dragon. [/sblock]

Pretty good article. It probably won't get fully ported to my games, but it was a good read, and sometimes things like this create a spark. I don't expect to use every article, I just want to use a lot, and have the rest be well written. This one falls into the latter category for me.
