Most tempting thing about DDI for me, the continuation of the Demonomicon.
On some level I thought the same, except a lot of what I liked about the original Demonomicon articles were that they were drawing upon and expanding a lot of material and concepts from multiple eras of the game. But 4e is so massively different in the flavor, history, and assumed cosmology department that to me at least, they don't capture the same spark.
This. I"ve never been part of a game that went over 9th level. So all this stuff, while great, is useless to me.Great article. I'll repeat what I told the Paizo guys, these articles also need low to medium level monsters, so we can start our campaigns and build up. Well written, interesting, I'll be using it, but it needs more monsters.
There's a sidebar noting that Turaglas doesn't have much past history in the game (Dragon 312 & some namechecks in FC1). It goes on to say:On some level I thought the same, except a lot of what I liked about the original Demonomicon articles were that they were drawing upon and expanding a lot of material and concepts from multiple eras of the game. I'd browse this in the store if Dragon was still an actual print magazine, but not an option, and I don't know anyone that subscribes so I don't have ready access to look myself. But for anyone actually subscribed to DDI, how does this compare to the only other source on Turaglas in print Dragon several years ago? Is it just a recapitulation of that article with whatever changes were needed to fit it into the 4e version of the Abyss? Or does it expand on anything (and how much of it might be applicable without much change to something set in the non-4e Abyss?).
Ari wrote both this article and the Dragon 312. I don't have the article in front of me to comment more than that, however. There's a sidebar noting that Turaglas doesn't have much past history in the game (Dragon 312 & some namechecks in FC1).
