Dragon 381 - Sorcerer Essentials

I rather enjoyed reading this Sorcerer Essentials article, Rob Heinsoo's enthusiasm for the class is infectious (well, at least to me). One of my favorite things about the article were the new sorcerer powers that have effects that if you are a Chaos Sorcerer allows you to roll a d4, d6, d8, or d10. Its an interesting mechanic that has a nice risk/reward which preserves randomness and player choice. Also, the art was really good IMO:

I was highly disappointed when this article disappeared from the calendar, but now I see it was well worth the wait. A nice combination of build and RP advice too. I wasn't too hot on the powers provided, but I play my storm sorcerer a little bit differently.

Overall, I think this is one of the better Essentials articles out there yet. I can hardly believe they put out the two for both my characters in the same month. I just wish we didn't have to wait until January to see this stuff in the Character Builder.

Did anyone note the little sidebar at the end of the article? It sure felt like it was pointed at the discussions here about the "non-optimized" aspects of the Essentials Articles...

I had a chuckle when I saw that last night. Between this and the recent updates, they're definitely paying attention to the various boards.

Nice article, even if it listed the Druid as being a striker. Not too sure on the cost/reward ratio for starting with an 18 Cha instead of a 17 Cha (before racial adjustments), though.

Why do they call the druid a striker....

I mean striker secondary sure, but the druid is supposed to be a controller

I find it odd that they recommend Implement Expertise and also, if you plan to make weapon attacks, Weapon Expertise. Is this not EXACTLY what Focused Expertise is for?
