Dragon 400: Born of Shadow Themes

Flavor. I wanted it to represent the character going up, touching their opponent, and draining the life force out of both of them. I didn't want to make it a ranged attack.

I picture a half orc slayer with this theme criting and useing +1w poser strike, +1w half orc race, +1d12 theme... and if we use a d10 weapon that is 42 before bonus...

The theme has a sort of of "personal", almost physical, feeling. Just reminds me a bit of Ghost Whisperer with a touch of Alexx Woods (the medical examiner of CSI Miami).

By my reading, you can still benefit from the Evard's feature attack using a ranged attack, you just have to be adjacent to your target when you do so. Not an uncommon situation for Warlocks doing the flank+Prime Shot dance, nor unheard of for anybody with Shimmering Armor, I should think. Or am I misinterpreting the conditions for the power?
