Your optimism is comforting but I feel...unrealistic. WotC will probably keep trying to keep Paizo under thumb. I just hope that Paizo finds a way to work around it.

Dream on. Won't happen. Paizo just has to last to the finish line of the non-compete. Then it's anybody's game.

Admittedly - with a different set of rules. But I think they got a better than fifty-fifty shot at it.

Maybe they will sell advertising space on the pay site. I forget, are there adverts of any type on the current site? *ok, Nightfall answered this...I guess not *

The only thing they do is say "Hey this is coming down the road from WotC occasionally." Not the "This and this and this is coming out from these people. You should get it." kind of ads.

But...I couldn't click on the pages in Dragon and buy the book I saw on the page either, but I'd still call it an ad.

Someone here (I forget who) mentioned that the profit margin on magazines was very small for the game store. Though I suppose if you bought it there every month it got you through the door and you ended up picking up a book now and again. I know it did for me.

That's me too. Dragon magazine was the primary reason I went to my FLGS. While I was in there, I'd peruse their 3rd party stuff. I get most of my D&D books at a discount elsewhere.

Yeah I heard that. While my old FLGS moved out, the other one that was around never regularly carried Dragon OR Dungeon. That's why I decided to stick with Barnes and Noble. They did.
