Dragon Compendium delayed

Great, first Tome of Horrors 3, now this. I cannot begin to tell you how much this really sucks. I was really looking forward to this one. They didn't even offer any explanation either. I was waiting all summer for ToH3 and I wasn't happy when they said it wasn't coming out until next year! What was wrong with November? Not long enough? I would never do this if I ran a publishing company! I demand an explanation!

Oh good lord.

Make sure you bang your fist on the table when you say that.

Great to see that hyperbole is still in style!

Oddly, the creature that interested me the most of those listed is also the free sample...

The Auld Grump - Unseelie Fey sound nifty too...

Sure you would. You wouldn't want to. You wouldn't mean to. You wouldn't like doing it. But you would, for the same reason everyone else does.

Sometimes, things go wrong. A book is delayed at the printer. A writer/artist/editor/developer turns in work late due to real-life emergencies. A chance occurs in the D20 license, and you have to adapt the work to match. Things take longer than anticipated by even the most experienced industry professionals.

Nobody likes delaying books. Nobody wants to delay books. Disappointing fans and retailers is never good for business. But as the cliche goes (and cleaned up for Eric's grandmother, "stuff happens."

And it happens to everyone.

Murphy's Law may be the one true constant of the universe. I know that things can go wrong int he printing process, so some delays will crop up from time to time. No company operates at 100 percent efficiency.

I have seen entire projects delayed for weeks because a few people changed their minds on requirements. Similarly, I have seen businesses slow down because of production problems.

Mind you, it could be a lot worse.

As for pounding a fist on a table, using a shoe is perhaps a little less painful. :)

I was looking forward to getting it but I understand if there are delays. I don't have a pre-order. Is there any word if Amazon or BN.com will be carrying it? The last I read was that the people at Paizo were in talks for distribution but I never saw anything else.

If Erik is reading this, take your time. I am sure people will get over there disappointment when the Compendium is in their hands!

Yeah. Heck, I played Star Fleet Battles starting in about '83 ... There was stuff on there "Coming soon" list that took at least five years to come out after their first predicted street date, and that was pretty common.
