Dragon Disciple and fly speed

Hi all,

if a dragon disciple (medium size) with wings casts enlarge person on himself, would his fly speed double?

Reason why I think so: It says so in the monstermanual

Reason why I think it isn't so: It also says in the monstermanual that you can't fly if you are medium. But in the DD rules you can read: "At 10th level, a dragon disciple takes on the half-dragon template". So we get a contradiction. Kind of an illegal situation. So what is it?

A 9th level dragon disciple gains wings regardless of size. This class ability is completely independent from the half-dragon template.

Enlarge person cast on a 9th level dragon disciple will not have an effect on the fly speed because the description for the Wings (Ex) ability doesn't mention it.
Enlarge person will not work on a 10th level dragon disciple since the disciple will then have the dragon type.

Thx for your answer:

> Enlarge person will not work on a 10th level dragon disciple

Ok, the logical follow up question is: If I am 10th level and I have some other means to get large. Which rule does apply then? The level 9 rule for the wings or the template rules?

Its written in the template page 146:
Speed: A half dragon that is large or larger has wings and can fly at twice his base land speed...

I'd keep the level 9 rules.

Unless you rule that a medium or smaller creature with 9 levels in the dragon Disciple prestige classes loses its wings when gaining the 10th level, there's no reason to grant the increased fly speed to a large or larger creature.
