Dragon Disciple PrC question

The Dragon Disciple PrC grants "extra spells", ostensibly as if they had been derived from a high ability score.

High ability scores grant "extra slots", NOT extra spells.

So, does a Sorcerer/Dragon Disciple end up knowing how to use a few different spells LOTS of times or LOTS of different spells? (It would appear in either case that the Dragon Disciple never actually increases in spell casting levels).

In your view, would it be more sensible to increase the spell-casting level of the original arcane spell-casting class - just as dragons become better sorcerers as they increase in Hit Dice? In that case, which would be more balanced for the Dragon Disciple PrC - +1 caster level per 2 PrC levels (2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 10th), +1 caster level per 2.5 PrC levels (3rd, 5th, 8th, 10th), or +1 caster level per 3 PrC levels (3rd, 6th, 9th)?

Any thoughts gratefully accepted.

It should have 7/10 progression like the BAB. 3 caster levels is a big enough sacrifice for what the class has to offer.

I disagree. The class doesn't offer much to spellcasting based characters, but is a tremendous boon to a fighting character with minor magical ability.

It's the first - using a few spells LOTS of times. Basically it gains extra slots.
