I suppose since I'm only now in the middle of A Game of Thrones I should just stay away from most of the magazine... :D

I'm willfully ignoring a certain poster's login name, and have been for a while... la la la hm hm hm

("As with all magic and spells presented in this article, Stannis's paladin abilities are not an exact replicas [sic] of the character's abilities in the novels. See the Magic in Westeros sidebar for more details.").

so what does the magic in westeros sidebar say?

Polymorph works on any willing creature touched, turning it into another creature of its type or of a selection of other types ("basically, living creatures"), granting the physical characteristics and extraordinary attack forms of the chosen creature, but otherwise none of its extraordinary, supernatural, or spell-like abilities. It lasts one minute per level.

Baneful polymorph affects unwilling subjects, and has a saving throw that gets a +4 bonus if the new form would be fatal. There are other "minor restrictions". It's permanent.

but the self spell is still 'monomoroph' I presume? As in it doesn't allow multiple changes in it's duration?

Olive It doesn't say-the only spell that got a complete writeup was Harm, the others they just give brief descriptions of.

Polymorph(the self/friendly version) just says lasts 1 minute level, is limited by HD(1 HD per level/Max 15 HD) for what you can turn into and that you get do not get any of the Special/Supernatural/Extraordinary abilities(the example they give is for a Troll-you get the Str and Rend but not the regeneration).

Jason Durall The Shadowbane content gives two of the races in D&D terms-the Shades and the Aelfborn.

Hey, I'm a big Shadowbane fan, and was wondering what this covers. Anyone have any more info on this?

Thanks!

There are two Human-kin races, Shades and Aelfborn.

The Shades are a "half-undead" race whose fathers died before they were born. They are sterile and pale colored. They gain See Ethereal and Ghost Touch and a ECL+2

The AElfborn are a variant Half Elf with a variant bonus feat and a bonus Skill Focus feat every 5 levels, but suffer from a madness similar to Call of Cthulu's sainty rules.

As too the changes in Polymorph, I wonder how this will affect Psionics?

Psions and Psychic Warriors have acces to Polymorph Self only, the new Polymorph can target any willing creature so can Egoist now change others or should it be limited to Self only?

Unless haste can affect multiple targets, it sounds like it just went to the bottom of the heap for "most desirable spell." In fact, I can see this spell going from ALWAYS selected to NEVER selected, at least on some caster's lists.

Nods. The change effects spellcasters really badly. I know the 3.0 version gives spellcasters quite a boost in power, but I don't like the 3.5 version being that skewed towards the fighter-type classes.

WayneLigon (or anyone else with a copy of 307): Was there any explanation to the "why" Haste was changed, or just "how"? I've never seen a problem with letting people cast an extra spell a round.
