Weapons with a high crit threat range which are no two-handed weapon for you sounds fine. So the greatsword or the falchion are out, the dwarven waraxe also, but longsword is in, maybe even bastard sword (katana surely is), and double weapons are a one-handed-and-a-light weapon, anyway.

Not a bad idea.

Also, I would probably consider some light weapons to be non-finessable anyway -- maybe you'll disagree with me, but I don't see a light mace as a finesse weapon.

No, it's not the most accurate weapon. But it's light enough that you won't feel to much difference between striking with it and striking with your bare hand, so light weapons are finesseable. Although the rule does make sense.
