Dragon Mountain

Huh, this sounds very similar to Axe of the Dwarvish Lords, published (I think) 6 years later. Axe of the Dwarvish Lords was an adventure for levels 13-15 that took place in a huge mountain complex mostly populated by goblins. Ordinary goblins.. with attitude.

From the sound of it, Axe of the Dwarvish Lords was more sophisticated, in terms of meeting the reputation of Tucker's kobolds. But it did "cheat" as well, in the form of additional rules for the goblins. The new rules were interesting though, and I remember noticing several years ago how they were pretty much precursors to 3E combat options. Examples escape me at the moment, sorry.

It's funny that they would make basically the same adventure again if the first one was so unpopular.

For 3e there is the lesser known but very well done Hero's Snare by Ari Marmell. One should be able to find that cheap these days I imagine.

We played this a long time ago and got beaten by the dragon at the end with the party ending up mostly dead or enslaved.
The main thing i remember was the damn poison the kobolds used, ok they didnt hit often but when they did it was nasty. save or die i think and if you saved you still took 20 damage.

I'd ignore their advice. One of the bad parts about Dragon Mountain is it is supposed to show how Kobolds can be deadly in D&D to high level characters but then goes and changes the rules (basically cheats) to make it happen.

Somedays I wonder if I missed anything by skipping 2e entirely.

This isn't one of them.
