Dragon or Dungeon/Polyhedron?

Depends on what you value more in your games, doesn't it? Would you rather be creating adventures and minigames, or a collection of magic spells, prestige classes and other useful goodies?

Then you've got a problem.

Usually I tend to pick up Dragon instead of Dungeon if I can only get the one. As a game wears on, I usually end up writing more of my own adventures and Dungeon becomes less useful. But even at uni I tended to play with a small, cohesive group, and having the added extras to throw into my game was more important than having an adventure laying around.

If you plan on running a campaing, then Dragon would probably just edge through with my vote.

On the other hand, if you're groups not cohesive and you're just looking for a quick game every week or two, or if you think college is going to suck up a great deal of your free time that would once be spent writing adventures, Dungeon wins out.

Me, personally, I'd stick with Dragon.

In my opinion, I would go with Dragon. Dragon gives you enough variety, with both crunch and flavor. Dungeon may have you yearning for more, since it mainly focuses on adventures.

If your pressed for time as a DM, then Dungeon is probably much more useful.

Dragon only tends to introduces more complexity to your game with additional rules, feats, spells, classes, etc to work in. Where as Dungeon makes your life easier with short pre-written adventures that are usually pretty easy to slip into a 'normal' D&D campaign. Even if you don't use them as is they make a handy template or provide a wealth of NPC's and such to work into you own adventures.

I know this is slightly off topic, but has anyone played the Porphyry House Horror adventure from the latest Dungeon? After reading some of it I must say it seems twisted almost to the point of surreality, im looking forwards to getting a chance to DM it and would appreciate feedback.

I'll be running it two weeks from saturday, or four weeks if my group manages to delay too long. I'm about to run them through the adventure that takes place in the Stagnant woods because it just called out to me as one that fit right into the group's current motives (hell, a lot of the background information was exactly what I've been telling my PCs about for the past 6 sessions).

Since I write my own PRCs/Spells in my free-time because I find it entertaining, I'm leaning towards Dungeon/Polyhedron right now... Dragon does have the news factor though...

I subscribe to Dragon and then only buy Dungeons that pertain to something I have in mind to run or do. Dragon has more overall coverage of games, campaign worlds (need more Darksun!!!) , and useful items. Since I prefer to create my own adventures I tend to only use Dungeon as a guide.
