Dragon PC's, or can solo or elite monster PC's be balanced

You stole my idea. I'm not saying you cannot use it, but I feel really offended because you passed it off as yours.

Here is the proof it was an idea of mine. The post dates are precedent.

I am very angry with you right now.

You could have consulted me and told me that you had a similar thread, so we could have worked together.

Right now I have far better ideas than yours. I had the idea to reverse Keterys's guides and now I have another idea. But I'm not going to tell you what it is, unless you apologise.

I really hate people like you that think they can do whatever they want on the internet.
If I were a little less kind I would have covered you with insults. However, you are lucky to have stolen an idea from a person who likes to debate peacefully. You would not like to hear how we call here in Italy people that do what you did.

Chill, winston.

Dragon-riding heroes is a fantasy trope that has existed longer than the modern fantasy genre. It's natural that -multiple- people have come up with the idea 'How do I get this fantasy system to allow me to ride dragons?'

Not only have I pondered the idea in the back of my mind since I first read the feat for Mounted Combat, but I'm sure -every- Dragonlance player has wanted something like this, not to mention fans of Anne McAffrey, Eregon. This is not something you can claim to copyright or really get offended that you 'invented'. In reality, you simply came up with the obvious idea everyone else did, right around the same time.

That said, the OP should give the dragons the (mount) subtype so that someone with Mounted Combat can use their dragonny abilities in those over-the-top skybattles.

You misunderstood. The idea I had was to reverse Keterys's guides. I slightly modified my previous post so nobody else misunderstands.
It's obvious that everyone around here is trying to make dragon PCs or mountable dragons, i'm not claiming to have invented them.

I am like unto a bronzed greek god of innovation!

Let me get this straight. Keterys writes:

Standard + X = Elite
Standard + Y = Solo.

You, in a blinding flash of genius, apply mathematical principles with nigh-unto-inconceivable brilliance and conclude that:

Elite - X = Standard
Solo - Y = Standard

I understand that it may be difficult to fathom that somebody else could have, without your guiding brilliance, passed kindergarten math. But maybe (and I'm just guessing here), he did this -incredibly simple idea- on his own, and then you came in and yelled at the nice guy because you're a bit too attached to your legendary bit of arithmetic?

It's not the arithmetic, that's so simple a children could do it. It's the idea to reverse it to use it on dragons to make PCs or mounts that's not so obvious. I do not claim to teach others simple math. And do not try to make a fool of me. This foolish way of writing just shows that you do not know how to discuss.

I do not exclude that we could have had the same idea, but look at the post dates. This thread's last post before Ryan_Singer said he "found" the guides is dated 13 August, so the thread was quite dead. After HOURS from my last post on my topic dated 08-24-08, 02:36 PM (remember that threads get to the top when they get a new post), Ryan_Singer magically gives new, fresh life to the topic with his message dated 08-24-08 09:23 PM. I do not think it is a coincidence.

Anyway, I'm waiting for Ryan_Singer's answer.

What on earth...? It's not like we're talking about a cure for cancer here. This seems like a huge over-reaction to an imagined slight.

Just so there's not any misunderstanding here, I'm not discussing things - I am laughing at you, along with anybody else reading this thread. You subtracted numbers instead of adding numbers, to make an elite monster into a standard monster, which is by definition about equal to a PC - apparently, this is your grandest innovation ever.

Ryan didn't even claim he invented the method. He just claimed he worked backwards from them. Do you want everybody to reference Perdil's Genius Subtraction whenever they work backwards from an elite?

-Cross (Still laughing at you.)

Your laughing at me just proves that you are so wrong that you cannot even discuss without scoffing the person you're speaking to because you are to scared to show that your arguments are wrong.
In fact, you seem to not have read my post at all except from the first lines.
I refuse to discuss with someone that does not know even the most basilar principles of civil debating and education.
And I'm still waiting for you, Ryan. I want to see what you have to say.

Ferdil,

You'll need to take this offline as this sort of behavior is not tolerated per the guidelines.

Please see the "keep it civil" and "keep it on topic" portions of the rules.

Ryan,

Any update on how the adventure is going?

And HOW to take it offline? I do not have Ryan's email address or whatever, he has no email address on his profile, and I don't think he is going to notice if I leave a visitor message to him.
Also, I am not talking in an incivile way (unlike Crosswind).

Hi Ferdil,

Yes, I read your thread before working backwards from Keterys's work. I'm sorry I didn't credit you, I thought the idea a little too derivative to need crediting. I absolutely would have, if I knew it would upset you that I didn't.

I would love to hear any other ideas you have.

PS - I do find the "People like you" statement offensive. You don't know me. I would love to get to know each other better, but my posting history on ENWorld is scant enough that any "People like you" statement is out of line.
