Seemed clear to me the first time. Not sure how you could interpret it to be $8 for 1 or 4 issues (I get to pick? Well, I'll go for all 4!), but $25 shipping for each (I better expect it sitting on the doorstep when I wake up tomorrow morning).

I suppose you could have worded it:

The "plus shipping" is awful repetitive, but when you're trying to be informational, it's ok. Or, I'm obviously not afraid of parentheticals, so you could throw it in that way with (plus shipping) or even (+sh). But, really I'm not sure even how it could be confusing unless people think you are just trying to drum up business for FedEx at your own expense.

Best of luck with the new endeavor. Now that you get to wear the publisher hat, as you can see here, the fun ride begins!

The publisher hat is indeed new to me. I will never again complain that something is too costly or that something wasn't done on time. Putting together this magazine was a nightmare. A fun nightmare, but a nightmare non-the-less.

Rocco, thanks for the replies and the info.

If the PDF price comes down im in for the first issue. If it is even half
as good as your enthusiasm for the project is Ill probably spend the cash
for 4 printed issues and the pdfs... the kid can go to one less movie a
month and ill save the needed cash right there

My enthusiam is high, it had to be in order to get everything done.

I think the 69 pages of content is very good, but I am bias.

That said, I know some ENWorlder out there will spring for an issue and come on the forums and bash the hell out of it. I did sit on this for a bit because, for every ounce of me that wanted to release it, there were two ounces that were afraid of Bashing.

I'm mostly over the bashing fear, but it still nags at me.

Thanks for getting back to us (to me) Rocco.

Knowing next to nothing about publishing, I can speculate that you can expect three things above all others:

1) The characterization of you (either personally or as a company) as some faceless, greedy suit with neither feelings of your own nor investment (financial or emotional) in the work
2)Unexpected challenges
3)Lots of ruthless, often groundless criticism

I hope that you and Dragon Roots are both successful. I know that I too sorely miss print editions of both Dragon and Dungeon magazines.

No problem, I am usually very good about geting back to people.

Back when Dragon and Dungeon was taken from us, I tried everything I could to get WOTC to reverse their decision, including a petition, to no avail. I announced that if they would not revoke their choice, that I would just make my own. A short 6 months later and here I am

1) I've already had one person ask how I can be so cold as to charge so much for print. Lesson 1, small runs cost more money. As I get more buyers, the costs go down.
2) I've had production, layout, contributor and printing issues, none of which were easy to overcome. Actually, I am surprised I made it this far. It is a lot harder than I had first thought. I would like to now take this moment to apologize to WOTC and Paizo for always bitching about late issues and rising costs
3) I'm getting used to it, but it still hurts. I have feelings too man

I hope you will give it a try, either in print or in pdf. I am proud of it and I think now that I have a outline and a solid printer and my friend moving back from Florida to help me in the future, I think it will only get better.
