Dragonfire Adept wearing armor

I like the Breath Weapon of the DFA, but want something more martial. I know that the invocations are subject to spell failure, but is the breath weapon?

My thought was to take a level or 2 of fighter - for the armor and weapons then DFA for the rest. Medium BAB , good Fort and Will. Basically a "Dragon Fighter".

The breath weapons is a standard action, and not subject to failure.

As for invocation failure, it is far less of a worry for a DA then most casters, as many invocations last all day, so do it in the morning either befroe putting on armor, or try and try until the failure chance comes up positive. No rush. The only problem with that tactic is getting dispel magiced in the middle of a combat.

I made a DFA by going DFA 18/Totemist 2 (Magic of Incarnum).

The soulmelds I always use are Blink Shirt, Ankheg Breastplate and Threefold Mask of the Chimera. Bind the Blink Shirt to your totem chakra so you can dimension door as a move action. Ankheg Breastplate adds a +2 amor bonus, which you can boost up with essentia, and will stack with the natural armor bonus you get from your scales via DFA. Also, there is no armor check penalty for using the Ankheg Breastplate. At level 6, take the feat Open Least Chakra and open your crown chakra so you can bind the Threefold Mask to it. This will allow you to take an additional Move Action at the end of your turn, with the restriction of being limited to 1 Move Action OR 1 Standard Action in the following round. You can then move near enemies (Move Action), use your breath weapon (standard action), and use your second Move Action to Blink away to safety/cover (best defense, no be there).
