Dragonlance Dragonlance Lives

Woot? Could you link please?

It was a conversation on twitter;

@boymonster <- Dragonlance specialist
@WeisMargaret I'm a dragonlance specialist!
@boymonster I think you out-specialize me by a wide margin. ;)
@WeisMargaret who is Chris sims?
@boymonster That would be @ChrisSSims, an editor & designer at WotC. He seems like a reasonably fine gentleman.
@WeisMargaret I heard you were looking for Dragonlance specialists! I'm available!:)
@ChrisSSims Hi! Hmmm. I think you should talk to @mikemearls then. You too, @boymonster.

My interpretation of the tweets/accounts is that it was said at the seminar that there'd be support for the major settings, and in response to a query about Dragonlance, WotC said "it's not dead" (less encouraging than "it's alive and we're working on it", which I think they implied for Eberron) then said they'd need someone who knew DL to be able to do it - leading to Cam and Margaret's tweets.

Cam's involvement would, if it happened, give me some confidence that it'd be handled well, by someone who can see the value to Dragonlance beyond nostalgia. (Ditto Margaret, of course, but Cam did the nitty gritty analysis and development of DL gaming material in 3e)

That sounds like a really odd exchange. But it's also clear that there's currently no DL specialist recruitment, and it doesn't sound like they're actively looking for one. I'm pretty sure Mike Mearls would know to contact Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman.

I'm interested in the context to which Dragonlance was brought up during the PAX East seminar, if someone present could clarify?
pedr pretty much described it a couple of posts up. There wasn't a lot to it from what I'm told.

Not present, but source seemed to be Jon Boulding of The Escapist on Twitter:
https://twitter.com/JonathanBolding

Three tweets (1707 to 1718 GMT+1):
- Dragonlance is NOT dead
- They want to "do right by their settings" that's all I got on it
- Chris Sims says they'd "need a specialist" to revive dragonlance

To me that seems to be a genuine reassurance to people asking about Dragonlance but an explanation of why it isn't currently in development or likely to be revived in the immediate future.

Because i interpret the tweets and Escapist comments based from the premise that all key settings will get 5E support like Morrus posted (which i consider Dragonlance one);

All "key" settings will get 5E support. Eberron soon, with Keith baker.

FR is flagship setting of 5E.
