I know this might fumble up Caramon's character, but shouldn't he like have a better intelligence? There is a scene with the Staff of Magius where Caramon touches it and it starts glowing, indicating that the stronger Majere twin also has a magical talent.

A scene when? Probably not when he was this young. But you are right the background I found said Caramon was smart and wise just next to the others he didn't come off that way especially around Raistlin.

When Raistlin dies. It has been a while since I read that book, but if I remember correct Caramon is capable of using the Staff of Magius and close the entrance to Takhisis' plane. The crystal of the staff lights up when Caramon holds it, which it only does to wizards.

If Raistlin knew Caramon was as dumb as a log he'd not have become as agitated during the test, when he sees the illusion of Caramon cast a spell. Most likely Caramon has the same intellectual capacity as Raistlin, but Raistlin has focused on this and therefore is more knowledgeable.

Right Raistlin built up his brain while Caramon built up his brawn. It's to bad there's no stat to IQ comparison could make one lol. Caramon is smart he just isn't as smart as the people around him. Look how smart he was during the Lengend series the only people around him were Tas, Bupu, Crysiana, and That Gnome was he Gnish or Gnosh?? They made him look really smart.

Calling Ivid

If you are still interested in playing Tanis please let me know. We are rolling along pretty fast (for pbp) and I'd like to know your still working on your character and that you wish to play.

:) All clear here! I was away for the weekend, but I'd still be delighted to play!!! - Problem is, me very moron hadn't understood that this was a 4e game. I'd love to play, but I don't have the books yet. Could you be so friendly and help me building the character?

(-Going to bed now. I am from Germany, so I won't be able to respond in the next few hours. Had a rough weekend, so now's nap time!)

O.k. thanks for responding will get to work on Tanis but after he's done you'll need to post him in the Rogue's Gallery so you can change things later.

First we will start with stats and leave some time for some feed back:

32 pt buy for Tanis 1st level Ranger

STR:14
CON:13
DEX:18 (w/+2 for race already added)
INT:14
WIS:13
CHA:16 (w/ +2 already added)

My suggestions for Tanis:

Since he's a Ranger, and needs to be good as a ranger, drop his Int as low as you feel comfortable it falling and up his Wisdom as high as it will go. Tanis was a pretty Wise individual, and to make him playable, Int won't help very much. Any Warlord abilities he has will be Cha and Str-based. We already have him at 4 stats used (Dex, Str/Wis, and Cha, in that order). I think 18 Dex is great, and 16 CHA is easy since he's a half-elf, but I would bust his Con and Int as low as I'd feel appropriate, and keep his Str/Wis solid. At least go Str 14, Con 13, Dex 18, Int 13, Wis 14, Cha 16.

Half-Elf Dilletante Ability: Furious Smash (melee attack and an ally gets a bonus to his next attack and damage against the same target for a round equal to Tanis's Cha. Plus, it targets Fortitude, so even with a lower Strength, Tanis should be able to land it with his longsword.)

His feat should be Student of Battle, granting him Inspiring Word 1/day. He probably shouldn't take too many Power Swap Warlord feats, but he should definitely take the Utility Swap feat. Combat Veteran might be a worthwhile Paragon Path, though Battlefield Archer would probably be more laong hs strengths.

Firt level Rangers abilities would include Archer fighting style (Defensive Mobility as a bonus feat), At-Will Powers: Nimble Strike, Twin Strike; Encounter: Evasive Strike (useable with a longsword or with a bow!); Daily: I like Hunter's Bear Trap, but Split the Tree is always nice.

As far as gear goes, He should wear leather or hide armor, fight longsword (it's versatile, so he can 2-hand it) and carry a longbow. Did Tanis ever two weapon fight? He could also carry a dagger or a shortsword to use his powers that work 2-weapon style, just in case he needs to.
