[Dragonstar] Help making a Combat/Field Medic

Eye Tyrant

First Post
So I am about to start my first DS game and none of the PCs have any type of healing ability. I don't mind playing the medic role, but I don't want to play a Cleric. Has anyone created a Combat/Field Medic type of class or PrCls? I was thinking of creating the class by integrating the Cleric (minus the spells) and Fighter classes. Switch around some Class skills and what not, and viola!

Just curious if anyone has done this already or has any ideas so that I might save some time.

P.S.
The PCs will all be 1st level...

It may take a bit of conversion, but there is a combat medic class in Spycraft in the Soldier/Wheelman Class Guide that might be of interest. They're non-magical, but have a smattering of (defensive) combat abilites and a mix of tech-based healing skills and abilites. Further, having one in your group means everyone gets regular reminders about first aid/buddy care, so the whole group is a little more effective about patching each other up.

Check it out :).

Field Medic...

There is a prestige class on Neo's site that is called the Field Medic, and it doesn't rely on Divine magic. Here is the link

http://www.neo-innovation.com/index.html

Go to the download page, and scroll down, and you will see the book of prestige classes. The Field Medic is on page 48. i hope this helps.

I have chosen to use the Expert NPC class from the DMG with the following:

Skills:
Craft: Pharmecueticals
Diplomacy
Heal
Knowledge: Chemistry
Knowledge: Biology
Profession: Physician
Research
Sense Motive
Electronics (from Spycraft)
Speak Language

Feats:
Skill Focus: Knowledge: Biology
Skill Focus: Heal
Technical Proficiency (free)

I will be eventually using Neo's Field Medic prestige class, with maybe a level or two of Fighter thrown in.

The Medic from Wierd War II ; Blood on the Rhine, works great in Dragonstar with just a little tweaking. I played one in our groups first Dragonstar Campaign, and he was a great addition to the party. I also had him use some of the drugs from the Cyberstyle rules, to enhance the characters when they needed it. Course he neglected to mention the addiction factors for some of the drugs.
