[Dragonstar] Reminiscing/Behind the scenes of "Raw Recruits"

Hi, HH! I bet that did change a few things. Did you keep the adventure for 1st-level PCs? I recall there was some flack about starting at this level given the tech PCs could possess. But audiences should bear in mind that we only had access to the Starfarer's HB while writing it. How did your group do against the formians on the rock field?

They ran for their lives on the rock field.

We ran the party all having a fairly high Level Adjustment, so it made up for the fact that the adventure was a little / lot tough for level 1 characters (mostly half-dragons in the party actually).

Yeah I wrote the adventure no one liked ;)

Actually, that adventure went off without a hitch for the party, becasue they found the secret panel and turned off all the hardware inside. It was going to be SUCH a cake-walk for them that I had the AI activate everything to stop them as the tech was shutting down the systems one by one.

Do you really think it was too tough? I DM'ed this for my home group before handing it into MEG and they got through it with flying colors. Everyone had fun and I got some good feedback. I think the most challenging part was how to deal with the green dragon at the end. When the PCs managed to get aboard the Midnight Angel without getting attacked, I was miffed that the dragon wasn't going to see use. So, I had the green land on the ship as it was taking off. It tried to smash through the bridge viewport, cracking it in some places, before it noticed that the planet was far beneath it and that it was about to perish. Definitely a good time. :)

Yes, we felt that the numbers of beasties near the beginning were a little high. Besides that, the module ran very well, scared the party a few times, made them think, work hard, and finally run for the ship to escape the green dragon - who also did some fair damage to it before they escaped.
