Hello everyone,

I was just wondering how everyone felt about his prestige class? I feel that it should have a "+1 caster level" every level, but others seem to disagree. What are your thoughts on this?
Did anyone out there create his or her own type of Technomancer? If so, can you post it?

I am still uncertain, but I think you`re right.
I think I will check the spell-list, if there aren`t to many differences, I think I will make it a +1 casterlevel class. Maybe a +1/2 caster level, and add some more abilites (especially Tech-related ones)

I agree that this should be a "+1 caster level" prestige class, but with the addition of the class-specific spell list; this class is worth taking if you just add full caster progression to it and strip out the custom spell progression.

I think the Technomancer PrC is just fine the way it is. The problem is the fact that they called it "Technomancer." That name emotes visions of powerful techno-savvy wizards (ala the group of the same name in Babylon 5).

In reality, the PrC is not about a bunch of arcanists that use technology. Rather, the PrC is designed more along the lines of mechanists who use a little magic in their work. That's why they don't provide a +1 spellcaster level bonus, as that's not it's main focus.

This is a mechanist first, arcanist second PrC (with an unfortunately misleading name). What would be nice is to see an Arcanist first, mechanist second PrC.

How odd. I would have sworn I responded to this thread earlier today, but it seems to have disappeared. Oh well; if I suddenyl seem to have a double post later on, please forgive.

Anyway, I think the Technomancer PrC is just fine the way it is. The unfortunate part was that they gave the PrC the wrong name. "Technomancer" draws up images of mighty wizards that utilize technology to enhance their arcane powers (ala the Babylon 5 group of the same name).

However, the DS Technomancer is not a wizard that augments his powers with technology. Rather, he is a technologist who augments his skills with magic. His primary focus is technology, enhanced by magic. As such, the PrC doesn't need or deserve a +1 to spellcaster level, because spellcasting is not it's main focus.

It's mechanist first, arcanist second. What I'd like to see is an arcanist first, mechanist second PrC.

I would have made the class totally different: using magic to power technological itemsm, making tech batteries to store magic charges, magical circuitry, that kind of thing. I guess I'll have to make my version and post it sometime.
