Dream products that will never see the light of day...

second for d20 rifts. flavor=good, paladium mechanics and escelating freaky power level=bad. kev needs to realise that there are people out there better at rpg mechanics then him. like everyone but steve jackson.

also the computer program that lets you zoom in on a 3d model of the world is very possible. there are people doing this with real maps right now, and how hard could the rest of it be? just a bunch of generators and pictures. it would be an incredible ammount of work to map out the entire world in great detail and then provide altitude info for each section. if i can find the url for the 3d map guy's site i'll post it. neat stuff.

I dont know if Fields of Blood will cover this good enough, but this is what I really need.

I need comprehensive rules for governing land. From a small village to a massive empire with everything covered from war to taxes.

How much income is generated
How to handle resources: Like opening mines, fishing, trade, ect..
All kinds of events
Still D&D related
and mass combat rules of differnet types minature and NON minature related.
Process of clearing land
How much time everything takes.

and more along those lines......

That about sums up my wish list.

What I would like is a system that allows me to generate a fully statted out, random character in the d20/D&D system complete with classes and levels and a background in much the same way.

I figure the book will need to be about 320 pages or so, include paths and die rolls that lead to all of the core races and classes. Each character should, upon completion be a fully fleshed out character that ranks it at between 1st and 3rd level or so.

This is not the sort of thing that can be done via a third party, as it would require (to be a fully fleshed out character) the rules for generating stats and applying XP. But WotC could do it. Heck, if I got the green-light, I could write it...

I think it would be cool.

There is always using just the OGL instead of the D20 STL, just throw "Compatible with 3rd Edition Games" on the cover.

Sure there'd be no D20 logo, but without that logo you can publish character creation rules...

Just a thought...

Isn't that what the Everquest RPG folks are doing?

Basically including the Everquest system for character creation, and trying their darndest to balance everything with respect to the default D&D rules?

IMHO, I'd like a Final Fantasy version of this. I'm doing a fan project, but it's helluh work, and with my unreliable internet, I can't update the site as often as I'd like.

But seriously...I want to play out big plots of world destruction seamlessly intertwining fantasy and science fiction aspects to create an intriguing world and intense characters, and most of all to use some of those FF cliches. :)

It'll never happen, unless Square suddenly sees this untapped market, but darned if I wouldn't want it. :)

I don't know if it's still out there, but a few years back there was a meta-RPG released called ARIA. It sprouted from a good idea (roleplay a land and its evolution rather than just the characters), but the realisation was flawed and it was an absolute rules bastard : you needed a degree in law just to read the damn books. Still, I seem to remeber a lot of specs and rules about land management etc.

Edit : The game is dead indeed, but I found a pretty good link

Generic d20 Sci-Fi that could be used for everything from The Last Starfighter to Wing Commander, or Aliens or whatever.

"D20 Future", not a Sci-Fi setting book but a "Core Rules" book like D20 Modern. Something that would go quickly to the SRD and allow other publishers to create D20 Sci-Fi settings.

"Reverse Engineering D&D". How the designers came up with what they did, why they did, and how things are balanced with each other. A "make your own game" book, basically.
