D&D 5E Dropped from latest playtest before release

I passed by the FLGS to buy a few Starter Sets as XMas present, and couldn't resist glancing a bit through the recently released DMG... I wanted to check out in particular the mob rules and the chase rules, but then while browsing I noticed I couldn't find the neat turn-based dungeon/wilderness exploration rules we've seen in the last few playtest packets :erm: Was it an oversight, or can someone confirm if they have really dropped them from the released books?

What else was there in the last playtest packet, which have been dropped before release and is now missing from the PHB/MM/DMG? I don't want to have any more negative surprises when (if) I finally buy the books.

Can you be a bit more specific as to what you were looking for? I have the September 2013 playtest. So I can compare. It seems like most of it is in there. It is just rewritten and broken into different sections.

I'd like to compile a checklist of everything that was in the September 2013 playtest packet but didn't end up released in the PHB/MM/DMG.

this is an excellent idea, and I hope someone does it... however since my DMG is 8 1/2 feet from me wraped in spiderman wrapping paper under my tree... I can not help until the end of he week

edit: it taunts me and crys at night to be opened...

Lots of things got dumped from the DMG for space. Kender, warfroged, Battlesystem, and more. I imagine a more regimented exploration system is something they decided would fitter as a web article or adventure content.

Most of the "missing" stuff from the last play test has just been renamed or presented differently.

For example most feats are in the PHB by a different name, the exceptions being Arcane Archer and the more advanced Magic Adept feats to get 2nd+ level spells.

Most of the treasure stuff is there (with a heap of added goodies), though they omitted "Chest" size treasure tables in favor of just "individual" (pouch in Playtest) and "hoard" tables.

While they don't explicitly have a turn-based exploration system, the rules options for various actions taken during exploration are still in the PHB so duplicating that more structured system would be a snap.

EDIT: Actually, page 106 in the DMG has a section on an Hour-by-Hour Approach to wilderness exploration.
