Drow Arcane Archer?

First question: is anyone playing (or has anyone played) a drow arcane archer?

Second question (issue): the prerequisite for the arcane archer says "ability to cast 1st level arcane spells." I'm assuming that even though a drow has a caster level to use his spell-like abilities, no DM out there would seriously consider allowing this to be sufficient to cover the prerequisite.

-Although I haven't played one myself, I've seen one played using hand and light crossbows. The guy played him pretty well. He had multiple levels in wizard.

Playing in a campaign where one of the PCs is a Half Drow Ranger3/Wiz4/ArcaneArcher2.

She has no Drow "abilities" other then the darkvision and the drowish appearance.


As a GM I would not allow Drow abilities to count as 1st lvl Arcane spell casting.

There was a thread less than 2 weeks ago... no, the spell like abilities don't count.
