Drow Equipment?

I recall under 2nd Ed (and probably earlier) that Drow-made equipment basically became useless once it was either taken from the underdark or exposed to direct sunlight.

What are the rules and their sources, under either 3.0E or 3.5E, for Drow equipment?

My Spring Attack based elf fighter was part of a band that slew a major BBEG (drow vampire fighter/wizard), at major cost mind you. Being a vampire, the exposure to sunlight wasn't really an issue for him :-)

We're keen to make use of it, but it seems unlikely that we can.....

I'd check Lords of Darkness for information on Drow equipment. I don't have it myself, so I can't say, how it works, but I think that some information is in there.

It's in the new book Underdark. Before that book came out there were no rules for it in 3.x, and drow equipment was just normal.

LoD was a good guess though :)

By default, drow equipment doesn't rot in sunlight anymore in 3.0 or 3.5.

The Underdark book introduces a drow-specific weapon and armor ability that gives it a greater bonus in certain areas of the underdark, but causes it to rot when exposed to sunlight.

(It's called drowcraft, and it gives a +2 luck bonus on to-hit and damage rolls when exposed to "underdark radiation", but the item has to make a DC 8 Fort save when exposed to sunlight, even if sheathed. It's a +1 equivalent ability.)

Thanks Caliban.

So, the DM said the armor was a set of +4 elfin chain mail.

I guess drowcraft would make that equivalent to a +5 piece of armor.

What would the armor's Fort save be?

Well, it could have been a set of +2 Drowcraft elven chain mail, which would make it the equivalent of +4 elven chain mail. It would be equivalent to a +3 armor, pricewise.
