Some time ago I ghost hacked a Druid 5 / Swanmay 7 in Isida's For the Greater Good pbp game after the creator disappeared. I really liked the simplicity of the character, especially resulting from the Vow of Poverty (Exalted).

A recent Recruiting thread prompted me to see if I could recreate the character as a straight Druid 11. I have the Swanmay details, but I really wanted the Wild Shape abilities, especially Wild Shape (large - brown bear!) and eventually Wild Shape (elemental). The problem was that I didn't have the book that the Exalted feats came from, and it proved impossible (for this little black dog at least) to reverse engineer it with the information I had.

The original character has several Exalted feats; I suspect that the Vow of Poverty feat gives a character bonus (exalted only?) feats in addition to AC, attributes and saving throws. I wasn't madly keen on the Nimbus and Holy Radiance feats, and I really didn't like the Vow of Purity. I want a character that can hunt with the animals of the forest (as one of them of course).

So how does Vow of Poverty work? And what more 'earthy' alternatives are there to some of the above 'saintlikeglow' feats. Below is a stalled work in progress version of the new character.

Vow of Poverty gives bonus exalted feats as well, which explains the extras. There are a number of ones which you may find intriguing. Nymph's Kiss is excellent, and makes sense for your character, and personally I'm a big fan of Touch of Golden Ice. If you seriously want to play this character, you should invest in the Book of Exalted Deeds.

Thanks for the clarification Corsair. I suspected that the original character had got their extra feats though one of the vows.

At the moment it doesn't look like I will be playing her. So it is more of an "I wonder if ..." project. When I ran into a wall with it, I had the choice of deleting the file, or posting up here to see if I could at least satisfy my curiosity.

Yeah, I think they might. From what I understand, they are neaded to for the purification ritual required by Vow of Purity after fighting undead/touching dead flesh. Perhaps the DM OK'ed them.

I don't really want to go with Vow of Purity, so I ditched the three vials in the new version. The benefits don't seem that significant, and the concept way off what I was looking for. I saw the character spending alot of time in animal form, hunting with a wolf pack, fishing with the bears, that sort of thing.
