Well clearly these guys had -powers- that let them do it.

So, skin any power involving flying to be swimming in the air and your players can do it -just fine-.

Assuming they have the power, of course.
 



My initial reaction was something along those lines the first time a similar situation occured while he was in wolf form. When I ruled against him, he argued that I was penalizing his character unfairly. I relented to keep the momentum going, but it's definately something I'll have to discuss with him.
It's fair to say he can't open a door as a wolf, although I might let him turn the knob with his teeth as a standard action or something.

But, remember that if you're going to take away capabilities, you should add some as well. For example, if your druid is in a jail cell, and wants to turn into a snake and slip through the bars, I'd allow it.

He'd have to turn into a same-sized snake, however, which is one large snake...

If an Eladrin (or other teleporter PC) could trivially escape from that cage, I'd probably allow it too.
