Druid Feats

First Post
I am playing a Human Druid in a home-brew campaign. Only books allowed are Core and Complete, nothing else. I just reached 3rd level and am looking at feats to take. I took Spell Focus: Conjuration and Augment Summoning at 1st level and am not sure what to take for 3rd level. I was thinking of Extend Spell, but think it might be better to get a Rod of Matamagic Extend.

What other feats should I look at?

Scribe scroll is very good for Druids... as so many spells are situational, and wouldn't be on your memorized list all the time, but are great to have in an emergency.

You'll have to save natural spell for your 6th slot.

But extend is always a good idea.

If there is not another character with it already, I think Track is a cool and often overlooked feat for a Druid. Survival is a class skill, after all. It adds a useful, interesting, and perfectly sensible component to a Druid, I think. Can make them a bit more of a scouting type. At third level, you now have both trackless step and woodland stride (if those names are correct), which are amazing skills for a scout, that other characters won’t have, unless for some reason there is a higher level Ranger about.
So, that is one idea.

Natural Spell is pretty much a requirement at 3rd or, at the latest, 6th level. At 3rd, it's two levels too soon, at 6th it's one level too late. Your choice, but you must get it.

Other than that, Extend Spell is fine, but if you plan on using it for your spontaneous summonings, keep in mind that it will take you 2 rounds to cast. That might not be as good as you think. Instead, I think there's a feat that speeds up summonings (from 1 round to a 1 std action). Check if it's in the available sources you have (maybe Complete Arcane). Sorry, I don't have the books at work to double check myself.

Lightning Reflexes to boost that Reflex Save. Natural Spell at 6th level is almost compulsory, while later on Fast Wild Shape is handy. Extend Spell is nice as well, but I'm kind of partial to keeping saves high.

You don't meet the prereq's until 5th level, so you can't take it until 6th... unless your DM will relax that rule... mine didn't.

Spell Focus + Augment Summoning, and Natural Spell are as close to "must have" as it gets.

Scribe Scroll is a very good feat for Druids, as already pointed out. There are a number of Druid spells that are among the very best in the game, but they are so narrow in scope that they are too painful to ever prepare. (Quench, various low level Animal spells, anti-Plant spells, etc.) Scribe Scroll and Augment Summoning are the best you can do to beef up the Druid as a spellcaster specialist. Spontaneous healing is okay, but you are never going to be great as a healer.

Rapid Wildshape is a very attactive feat at 9th level. Makes shifted in combat much more practical as well as providing a bit of emergency healing.

I agree with Track as a good feat. Most wildshape forms have Scent, so the Druid gets some interesting synergies there. OTOH, a few animals have Track as a racial bonus feat.

Scent is a Extraordinary Special Quality. I don't think you get those when you Wild Shape or Polymorph. Riding Dogs have Track as a bonus feat, so no point really taking it as a druid.
