D&D 5E Druid Shape Forms

Speaking of don't forget, don't forget the druid can't change into anything he or she hasn't seen. Which very well probably puts the stop on several of those forms.

Conjure Animals is a heck of a spell. :)

I am an easygoing guy and if one of my players thought to do that would be ok with it.

But technically those are summoned fey spirits in animal form, it is like watching a moving image of an elephant sure it is very close but I can also see a DM saying it is like seeing a picture of an elephant it captures some of what makes up the animal but not the nature of the beast.

I feel confident in saying that 99% of all my characters in the past 30+ years never actually saw a triceratops, giant shark, or mammoth in the game.

Interesting different experiences for different people I guess, while in the same amount of time I have never seen a Modron or Flumph but I have seen triceratops and mammoths multiple times in many campaigns, I have only ever seen one giant shark back in 3e and it had some templates on it like fiendish and vampiric so I don't think that counts as a regular giant shark.

Yea, honestly I don't think it's a big deal either way.

The real pinnacle for Moon Druids is getting the CR5 elementals at level 10. Those are going to be your best options all the way up to level 17. Any animal form you find is really gravy on top of that. And at level 18, where it might be nice to have a CR6 to change into, you'll still have the option of turning into a elemental with full casting or be shapechanged into something way more dangerous. Having a mammoth form to change into just doesn't matter at that point. :)
