Druids and Undead

Intruders are always fun... :)

As to Celtic, I just remembered that technically the Banshee is not an undead in the typical sense. Its a sidhe spirit that manifests to warn of a pending death in a family.

So, given the Banshee's intrusion into the mortal realm and the tales of the Lord of the Hunt... perhaps Druids would view incorperal spirits as simply a portion of the 'wheel of life' and perfectly natural while corporal spirits are trapped by some force (arcane, evil, greed, etc..) and should be freed of thier torment.

The soul could journey between the mortal realm, the land of the sidhe, the land of the gods, or linger betwixt for whatever reason. Those that linger often do in order to pass an important message on from the 'other side'. That message could be the pending loss of a loved one {banshee} or to stay away from a certain location {haunting} or to guide mortals {baelorn}..?

Eh, or I could just be rambling.

Merric---

Our old DM in college used a lot of planar travel in our games, and he used a variety of nasty Celtic critters on us in the Celtic planar sessions. The one that still stands out today, however, was the neukleve (spelling is undoubtedly wrong), which was some sort of evil death-knight-like mounted nasty incarnation of death. I haven't been able to track down the thing given my off-spelling, but I recall reading about them in some Ars Magica books as well, so I don't think it was an original creation of his.
