Druids & RttTOEE: Viable PC Option?

Hey all, we're in the midst of playing RttTOEE and we have someone in our party who needs to roll up a new PC and wants to play a 3.5 druid. I was wondering what you thought of his choice for this particular setting/adventure?

The reason I ask is because our DM isn't sure of how a Druid will fit the play of this module (right now we are in the CR Mines). He has no problems with druids at all, he is just wondering about the "fit."

Is it possible to be a viable Druid for this particular adventure? If so, how would you play it? From a DM's perspective where do you see a druid "fitting in"?

Thanks.

When I played in this adventure I had a druid who rocked. I was pretty much the divine spellcaster and the melee fighter of the party (thanks to wildshape).

What do you mean about "fitting in"? Thematically the adventure seems tailor made for a druid... it's a temple of Elemental Evil, after all, something that druids would be concerned about.

No problems whatsoever. It is a dungeon crawl, but druids do fine there. They are very strong combat characters with their summons, other spells, decent hp, companions, and wildshaping.

I fondly remember wiping out a whole cave of bugbears with the use of wall of thorns. Spikestones was usefull too; it lasts 1 hour/level and has a huge area and is nearly impossible to spot; great for blocking off areas when you need to retreat/rest.

Stone Shape, Soften Earth and Stone, Meld Into Stone, Spike Stones, Wildshape, the elemental spells they have, not to mention all the spells in the Complete series and PHBII...Druids have plenty of versatility.

One potential problem is dealing with undead, and the fact that druids don't get remove curse and restoration.

But man, I had fun with my druid. Oh no, a scary evil sorcerer blasting us with spells...let's see you cast while grabbed by a bear! Uh oh, a thick metal door, barred from the other side. Rusting grasp to the rescue! An "impenetrable" stone door? I didn't have stone shape prepared so I summoned some thoqqua and told them to dig it to bits (I took all the elemental languages so I could talk to summoned elemental things).
