duel wielding wands?

You can certainly hold as many wands as you want, hold a few dozen in your hands, cram a couple into your mouth, stick some between your toes, stuff a few your butt. You can still only use one of them per round though.

I'd be as (if not more) worried about the guy using two wands of enervation. More costly, yes, but 2d4 negative levels a round!

Why bother with the level of sorc? Even the most medicore of Use Magic Device checks will succeed for a 0 level spell.

Feat

Dual weilding wands
Prerequisite: Dex 15, intelligence 15, Lightening reflexes. Two weapon fighting. Caster level 5.
Benefit: you can use two wands, one in each hand and activate them in the same round.
Normal: without this feat, you can only activate one wand per round.
Special: if either or both wands require an attack roll you take the twf penalties.

Prerequisite: Dex 15, intelligence 15 if using arcane wands, wisdom 15 if using divine wands. Lightening reflexes. Caster level 5

Normal: without this feat, you can only activate one wand per round.
Special: this feat does not stack. you must declare which type of wand, either arcane or divine you wish to use. this feat can be taken multiple times for different types of magic ie: arcane, divine, ranger, bard, paladin etc.

comments?
wands do not fall into arcane or divine types (though scrolls do). A bard can use a wand of CLW created by a cleric, but cannot use a scroll the same way. So some parts of the requirements and taking it more than once don't work as well.

I'd make the prereq TWF rather than lightning reflexes, and make it clear that if either or both wands require an attack roll you take the twf penalties. Otherwise, interesting...

Well, it is possible if you use 3.0 rule and cast haste, I believe this would allow you to cast 2 spells a round, or alternitevly use 2 wands.

Another posibility is touch attack wands. Use one, then the other, and in the third round y ou could strike with both, but that isn't a very good strategy.

Yes you can!

Can you duel wield wands? I was thinking of like a gunslinger type character so that the wands would be like guns. Can you fire two wands at once? Something like 2 magic missle wands each in a different hand. Would they need to be the same command word for them to work? Was just wondering if any of this would work for DnD. thanks.

I had typed out a super long answer with extra things to it but I wasn't allowed to send it b/c this is my very first post. so I'll keep it short this time with this necro post.

YES you can now dual wield wands, casing from each wand in a single turn. There are many feats that combine with this Double Wand Wielder feat as well. The only draw back is that it doesn't leave much room for other feats, (especially metamagic feats), but the possibilities of things you can do are seemingly endless. Since I'm not yet able to post links here are the 4 books you should look at (there are more but these 4 are the main ones):

Complete Arcane (CA)
Complete Mage (CM)
Complete Scoundrel (CS)
Eberron Campaign Setting (ECS)

Have fun, good luck, keep a VERY open (and creative) mind in the combinations you can pull, whether or not you decide to prestige.

Gonna try to sneak my extra posts on here like this so I can eventualy post links... (I registered specifically to answer this question, I felt morally compelled as a wizard user myself).

Possible Feat Acquisition Layout
1: Scribe Scroll, Two-Weapon Fighting (pre-req for double wand wield)
3: Fortify Spell/Maximize Spell/Empower Spell (pick one based on the kind of wands you'll be using)
5: Craft Wand (Pre req for double wand wield)
6: Double Wand Wielder
9: Wand Mastery (optional +2 CL,+2DC on wand effects that you cast, VERY useful esp. if u craft your own wands, causing you to be behind in levels)
10: Reckless Wand Wielder (spend an extra charge to add +2CL on wand effect)
12: Metamagic Spell Trigger (apply ONE metamagic feat you have into wands you use at will, subbing charges for each additional level spell slot)
15: Master Wand - (burn a spell slot to preserve a wand charge, useful to preserve wand life)
15: Chain Spell

^ Just an example. The bar after the 15 is because its also possible to do much less with those wands, in order to prestige into arcmage, making u lose the feats at 18 and 20, to grab Major Arcana abilities instead. If you go Archmage prestige, you may want something like this:

1: Two weapon fighting, scribe scroll
3: fortify spell or maximize spell, or empower spell
5: Craft Wand
6: Double wand wielder
9: Chain Spell (I'd use this on a wand of dispel magic, or a wand of any buff spell: Bulls Strength, Invisibility,
10: Skill Focus: Spellcraft (pre req for arcmage)
12: MetaMagic Spell Trigger (get it here b/c this ist he earliest ucan get 15ranks of spellcraft)
15: Spell Focus: Conjuration
15: Spell Focus: Transmutation (these 2 skills imho, are the most powerful schools of magic) (spell focus in 2schools are prereq's for arcmage)

16: Arcane Reach

20: All 5 of these levels will be used as Archmage, a 5 level prestige, granting you a major arcana, of your choice at each level. Pick according to your spells.

NOTE* By going THIS route and grabbing Arcane Reach as one of your High Arcana's u can now use touch spells and Range touch attacks/spells (up to 30 feat), meaning you can now use Chain Spell on spells like Polymorph on the entire party.(without use of wand though...) this route (into archmage) gives you optimal versatility with and without wands. A wizard (even a specializing wizard) never wants to be a 1-trick pony. finding a means to get by your wands won't shut you down if u go this route.

Hope that helps! Good luck!
