Wow, that was rather emotional.
I was answering a question that was posted. I wasn't "band wagoning". Some people diagreed with your choice and they told why, other then that it seemed like a nice discussion.
Emotion? What does that have to do with anything?
And by band-wagoning, I was refering to this assumption being made by multiple people that all fencers have to be good with their off-hand, so obviously my house rule is flawed.
That's just plain silly and a waste of everyone's time.
BTW, when I originally posted my house rule, I never asked for a critique or validation. In fact, I specifically said, "Anyway, just my little observations and preferences. Do with it what you will." I posted it to give anyone, who may happen to think as I do, something to think about. I'm not here to defend my choices. I don't have to. I like it, my players like it. Everything works great on this end.
Maybe the need to discredit my idea stems from a lack of conviction on your end (the "your" being in the generic sense)? Who knows. I'm not an armchair psychologist (or fencer, for that matter). I just play the game and enjoy it. All the real-world experts can do what they like with their own games, I'm not interested in real-world when I play D&D. I want fantasy. I want adventure. I want a cheese sandwich...
