Duelist prereqs?

I'm not a fencer but I know some pretty good at OSU.

Do all fencers have the real world equivilent of ambedexterity? No. However, they are taught and encouraged to use both hands and to learn and work on it till they do. Also, the best fencers do have the equivilent of this feat.

In regards to yoru question, yes every fencer I know can *fence* close to equally well with either hand, obvioulsy they are going to have a favored hand they use more. But beyond fencing they cant use their opposing hand for much else. It isnt true ambidexterity, but in regards to fencing I would say you need to be.

A very hedged answer at best.

Anyway...

The thread was originally over when I first posted my idea. The guy got the answer he needed. I tossed in something obviously labeled as a house rule. I gave a very specific example as to why I did it. I explained my reasoning.

I really don't see what all this band-wagoning is about. Is it so hard for you people to accept that there are others out there who do not do everything the exact same as you? Can there not be two perfectly reasonable ways to do things? Even more than two? Is the change I made going to break something? Is there a balance issue? I just don't see the point of all this.

Wow, that was rather emotional.

I was answering a question that was posted. I wasn't "band wagoning". Some people diagreed with your choice and they told why, other then that it seemed like a nice discussion.

Emotion? What does that have to do with anything?

And by band-wagoning, I was refering to this assumption being made by multiple people that all fencers have to be good with their off-hand, so obviously my house rule is flawed.

That's just plain silly and a waste of everyone's time.

BTW, when I originally posted my house rule, I never asked for a critique or validation. In fact, I specifically said, "Anyway, just my little observations and preferences. Do with it what you will." I posted it to give anyone, who may happen to think as I do, something to think about. I'm not here to defend my choices. I don't have to. I like it, my players like it. Everything works great on this end.

Maybe the need to discredit my idea stems from a lack of conviction on your end (the "your" being in the generic sense)? Who knows. I'm not an armchair psychologist (or fencer, for that matter). I just play the game and enjoy it. All the real-world experts can do what they like with their own games, I'm not interested in real-world when I play D&D. I want fantasy. I want adventure. I want a cheese sandwich...

Help help! My thread has been hijacked! ;)

Seriously folks... you all need to step back here. I can understand the fencing folks wanting to add their two cents. I can understand Corwin wanting to throw out his own house rules suggestion for the prereqs. But you've all said your piece now. Nothing more to see here... move along...

I was one that assisted with the stats!
*No hurt toad!*

Hehe... yeah. Honestly you all can rant as much as you want, doesn't matter to me. Just figured I would at least try to calm things down so flames didn't start licking the surrounding threads. :) Part of my helpful personality I guess.

*leaves the thread for good* ;)
