dumb premise for a game - Medieval Aliens

I think the fundamental question is, is this a "this is what was really going on behind the history in secret" premise, or is it a full on, alternate history, Knights and Aliens, scenario where aliens openly show up sometime in the middle ages.

Both are pretty cool. The prior has a lot more potential to be clever in a novel or what have you, but I think the latter has a broader range of interesting gameable scenarios.

I have an old homebrew in which elves are actually crashlanded “Greys” using holographic tech to visually conform to legends of the fey. In that setting, “Underhill” is the remnants of their starship, and the legends of how time passes differently there are due to their use of stasis tech. (And yes, tesseracts are also involved.)

OTOH, just look at the Asgardians and Goa’uld from the Stargate franchise…

WHAT??????? (Runs to Google) There is a 31 year old movie based on this book that I have never heard of before now. I had no idea and once I get over the shame of that I will be elated.
If it helps, I just learnt there's a book to one of my favourite movies. And by an authour I've read a bit from. :)

I can imagine where the book/movie would differ, the movie has some slapstick in it.
