To avoid signing up to look at this one adventure, can someone tell me if this is essentially the same adventure as the "Tower of Deception" by Monte Cook that used to be a free PDF download?

It is nothing like that.

While I do like that we get (good) free Adventures, I really don't understand why they are always high-level. :(

I believe someone from WotC said somewhere that they were supporting higher-level adventures as people finish their campaigns before 4e.

I, for one, love the focus on higher-level adventures (which have been too few overall - though 3e was the best edition so far to support them).

Well, this one is for a party who flubs their teleport percentile roll, and such a party would generally need to be at least 9th level in order to have a teleport percentile roll to flub. That would explain the level of the adventure.

I just finished the original Tower of Deception for my Scarred Lands game (heavily modified, of course). The party got a misjump while extricating half the group from a nasty situation. Out of the frying pan and into the fire for those 4!

I may have to create an account specifically to get this one for the very reason that they will be thinking "surely we can't misjump into ANOTHER adventure!!"
